So I finally watched Twilight...

..and it was pretty not-good. I know it's geared towards young girls who are emotionally undeveloped, but still, it's just so sucky. Just let me rant.

You might like Twilight if you're:
-A teenage girl.
-A mentally impaired adult.
-Into bad stories/movies.
-A gay male.

The things that sucked:
-The special effects are laughable; The running scenes, the climbing scene, the glitter... The fight scenes. Poor.
-Most of the movie is made up of a series of scenes featuring people staring at each other. I'm talking lingering, dead-behind-the-eyes type stares... much like the ones that the cast of The Hills manages to pull of so flawlessly in every episode.
-The vampire aspect of the movie is embarrassing; Vegetarians? They sparkle in sunlight? Cloud cover keeps them "Concealed?"
-The baseball scene... LOL
-Kristen Stewart is horrible in this. Its like she's got one mode; bewildered.
-And seriously, how realistic is this?:
"I'm a vampire, are you scared?"
"No."
"I've killed people."
"So what."
"I really want to drink your blood."
"I trust you."
... Are teenage girls really that ignorant? Is that romance?

I will give the movie credit for:

-I like Rob Pattinson. He had shit to work with here, much of the material was absolutely laughable, but he has a very likable quality about him.
-Same thing for the kid that played Jacob.
-The Twilight series is getting young people to read, even though its no good writing at all, so that's a big positive.
-I kinda like how they killed the "bad guy" at the end.

Stephen King says this about Stephanie Meyer and her Twilight books:
"Both Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people. ... The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good.

People are attracted by the stories, by the pace and in the case of Stephenie Meyer, it’s very clear that she’s writing to a whole generation of girls and opening up kind of a safe joining of love and sex in those books. It’s exciting and it’s thrilling and it's not particularly threatening because they’re not overtly sexual. A lot of the physical side of it is conveyed in things like the vampire will touch her forearm or run a hand over skin, and she just flushes all hot and cold. And for girls, that’s a shorthand for all the feelings that they’re not ready to deal with yet."

Exactly my point. This movie (and books) sell teen girl pretty short in my opinion; an utterly confused girl falls for a creepy, stalker-ish guy, despite his admitting to murdering people and wanting to drink her blood, thereby putting her life, as well as her entire families in danger... All for love? Of course it's a deep, soul searing love that happens immediately, and has nothing to do with getting to know someone over time... it's based on staring at each other. I mean the guy is a 100+ year old man, in the body of a teenager, and he's in love with a 17 year old girl... Is that not a pedophile? But it's ok because he looks 17...

It's just so ridiculous.
