John McCain = 4 More Years of Bush

It's the fifth anniversary of Bush's infamous "Mission Accomplished" speech. We should remember that John McCain once noted, "no one has supported President Bush on Iraq more" than he has.

Kudos to MoveOn.org for creating this video.

It's coming!!!!!!!!

Good god I can't describe how bad I need to see this movie right now.

Sure it isn't horror, but still it must be praised.

The new rumor is that Miley Cyrus has a bit part in the movie... Well, I guess her having the joker smeared all over her face means that her part is "Streetwhore #1"

Open Entrance Announces 'Top Ten Best Black Blogs'

I read with interest the Top Ten Best Black Blogs as researched by Brian over at Open Entrance. He uses a different measurement metric than we use here each month. However, the great thing from my perspective is that he made me aware of at least three Black owned & operated blogs that I simply hadn't heard about before.

His Top Ten list is as follows:
  1. MediaTakeOut.com (not BBR-ranked)
  2. Sohh.com (not BBR-ranked)
  3. Bossip.com (BBR #1)
  4. Concreteloop.com (BBR #3)
  5. Young Black & Fabulous (BBR #7)
  6. Nah Right (BBR #4)
  7. Sandra Rose (BBR #10)
  8. Crunk & Disorderly (BBR #97)
  9. Mrs. Grapevine (BBR #42)
  10. Open Entrance (BBR #113)

Brian noted, "The number of blogs in the black blogosphere has exploded and the number is only increasing." The updated Villager's Black Blog Rankings will be posted on May 1st.

Barack Obama Throws Jeremiah Wright Under the Bus

Barack Obama tried to change the subject from Rev. Wright over the past 6-8 weeks. It didn't work. Today, he decided to change friends. Barack Obama made it clear today that he thought Rev. Wright was wrong, destructive, and disrespectful. Things turned personal today.

Barack Obama held a press conference today in which he denounced his former pastor, Rev. Wright. Obama was visibly angry and upset about the antics of Rev. Wright, especially during the Q&A session at the National Press Club on Monday. Obama went out of his way to give the benefit of the doubt to Rev. Wright a few weeks ago during the race relations speech in Philadelphia.

Rev. Wright could have stayed out of the limelight for the duration of this presidential election cycle. The issue had died down in the public eye. Instead, Rev. Wright went on a 3-day media blitz on PBS, NAACP Detroit fundraiser and National Press Club. He clowned and showed himself to be very self-centered. He enjoyed himself during the NPC Q&A session. He had no concern about Barack Obama's future. Rev. Wright decided to go on national television with this foolishness.

Barack Obama clearly divorced himself from Rev. Wright as a person, not just his comments. Obama realized over the past few days that Rev. Wright was no longer the same person that he knew over the past 20 years. Obama denounced 'ridiculous statements' made by Wright on AIDS, Farrakhan and such.

Now, we wait for the next punch to be thrown. After all, Rev. Wright is a former marine. He is a fighter... and it appears that he is also a very self-centered person that will not resist the urge to fight back. After describing Barack Obama as a phony politician over the past 3-days ... you wonder how he will respond to Obama's press conference remarks.

I'm very disappointed and sad in the road taken by Rev. Wright. All indications are that he is a very intelligent, charasmatic and motivational leader, preacher and theologian. He is a lousy friend, mentor and public figure. He decided that his personal pontification was more important than our nation's opportunity to elect the first African American president. Rev. Wright singlehandedly is putting Obama's presidential aspirations in jeopardy.

The next 72 hours is critical for Obama. He needs to successfully change the subject during his campaign in Indiana and North Carolina. If he can do it ... he may have a chance to win in both states. If we're still talking about Rev. Wright over the weekend ... then Obama may lose both states.

Elaine Brown Withdraws as Green Party Presidential Nominee

Elaine Brown was the highest ranking woman in the Black Panther Party back in the day. She had a taste of power that stayed with her through last year when she announced her candidacy to become President of the United States. She had many supporters. I didn't realize until recently that Sis. Brown pulled out of the race.

She wrote on her website,

"As of today, I am no longer a candidate for the Green Party nomination for president of the United States, and I hereby resign from all affiliation with the Green Party. I believe the leadership of the Green Party of the United States has been seized by neo-liberal men who entrench the Party in internecine antagonisms so as to compromise its stated principles and frustrate its electoral and other goals. They have made it impossible to advance any truly progressive ideals or objectives under the umbrella of the Green Party, and, thus, rendered it counterproductive for me to go forward as a Green Party candidate or member.

I believe this small clique that has captured control of the Party has transformed it into a repository for erstwhile, disgruntled Democrats, who would violate the Party’s own vision and sabotage the good will and genuine commitment of the general membership. Indeed, these usurpers foster a reactionary agenda, supporting partisans in and backers of the Bush wars and disavowing the Party’s more progressive tenets in favor of promoting high-profile participation in the politics of the establishment.

This became clear to me almost from the moment I announced my candidacy in February of 2007. I intended using my campaign to bring large numbers of Blacks and browns into the Party, particularly from the hood and the barrio—as would come to be reflected in the lists of supporters and delegates I’ve submitted in connection with my candidacy.

As I asserted I would use the respect I enjoyed as a former leader of the Black Panther Party to do so, some in the hierarchy seemed utterly fearful of the prospect of a massive influx of blacks and browns into the Green Party. Soon, there was wide circulation of false rumors that I was a one-time “government agent,” which was intended to discredit my history in the Black Panther Party so as to undermine my potential influence.—And, since then, I have had to devote significant time and energy to addressing these lies.—What this effort revealed, though, was how the Green Party, while advocating “diversity,” remains dominated by whites. Indeed, the Party is able to count less Blacks, browns and natives in its membership than our national population percentages and certainly less than the Democrats themselves.

In effect, the present Green Party leadership promotes a kinder, gentler capitalism, a moderated racism, an environmentally-sustainable globalism, which I cannot support. They are dedicated to the underside of the Party’s platform, which falls short of repudiating the capitalist state, source of all the social ills the Party would address. They equivocate by promoting “an economic alternative to corporate capitalism and a socialist state,” advocate a “re-formulation” of the IMF,NAFTA, so forth, and advance the institution of “stakeholder capitalism.”

On the other hand, they demonstrate a willingness to override the best of the Party’s platform. My sharp criticism of high-profile Party members’ support for the “three-strikes” crime laws, the sole basis for the inhumane mass incarceration of people in the United States, particularly Blacks—the repeal of which the Party’s platform advocates—has been met with outright enmity. And, to divert attention from this and other critical issues, the leadership has employed chicanery in their promulgation of defamatory lies about me—which they finally extended to character assaults on my supporters and critics of their unscrupulousness.

It is my sincere belief that the Green Party as it now exists has no intention of using the ballot to actualize real social progress, and will aggressively repel attempts to do so. To remain in the fray or in the Party, then, would require a betrayal of my lifelong and ongoing commitment to serving the interests of Black and other oppressed people by advancing revolutionary change in America."

Any thoughts on the Green Party or Elaine Brown that you care to share with us?

Creating a Peace to Keep in Darfur

Ending the catastrophe in Darfur requires international protection for civilians, a peace agreement that resolves the underlying political issues, and accountability for human rights abuses. Complete humanitarian access must be assured.

To achieve any of these goals, there must be meaningful consequences for individuals who impede efforts at protection, peacemaking, and humanitarian access. The deployment of an international civilian protection force, authorized last July by the UN Security Council, is moving ahead fitfully in the face of constant obstruction by the Sudanese government (and gross inattention by the Security Council to the pressing needs of the mission). While full and effective deployment of that force is necessary to save lives, it ultimately will prove insufficient unless it is accompanied by a viable peace process. Unfortunately, the current peace process is in shambles.
The ENOUGH Project and the Save Darfur Coalition created a joint report that outlines the urgent steps that must be taken to create a peace to keep in Darfur. The two groups identified these steps through field work, consultations with key actors, and experience with peace processes in Sudan and elsewhere. In particular, the joint report draws on the model used to negotiate the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) that ended the decades-long war in southern Sudan. [SOURCE]

To date, international actors, including the United States, China, France, and the United Nations, have sought more to manage the Darfur crisis piecemeal rather than solve it completely. Now is the time to appoint an empowered mediator and support that mediator with an international quartet of powers that have leverage and interests in Sudan.

The mediator must simultaneously protect humanitarian access, push for full and effective deployment of the UN-AU civilian protection force authorized last July, and vigorously pursue a viable peace process.

That peace process must address both the local and national issues that underlie the conflict, ensuring that resolution of the conflict in Darfur complements full implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) that ended the conflict in southern Sudan and that provides a blueprint for the democratic transformation of the entire country.

The problems of Darfur cannot be solved without solving the problems of Sudan and vice-versa. The time has come, finally, to get it right in Sudan. The long-suffering Sudanese people deserve as much.

Do you have what it takes to become an activist on behalf of the Darfuri people? If so, then you are encouraged to download or read this Activist Brief on creating a peace in Darfur.

#3- American Psycho (2000)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

American Psycho (2000)

Sub-Genre- Serial Killer/Slasher

In Attendance- Me, Eryn, and The Vanilla Gorilla (Nicknames are used to protect the innocent, bear with us folks.)

What's it about?- Patrick Bateman, avid 80's music collector, divides his time educating people on the social implications of the music of such bands as Huey Lewis and the News and Phil Collins. He is also bat-shit nuts, and like to kill hookers, homeless people, and small kittens.

Lucky for him that he lives and kills in the 80's; possibly the most self indulgent and ignorant decade that we as humans have ever survived. While everyone else is talking about their portfolios and bone colored business cards, Patrick is spreading the message of utter insanity and the benefits of apricot facial scrubs. Hell no he isn't smarmy! He will ask a street hooker to was her vagina only to turn around and ask a high priced call girl to "Eat it." If that isn't blurring the socio economical lines of the class war, I don't know what is.

So he kills all sorts of people, all of them deserving (save for the dumb-as-a-sack-of-hammers model), doing so with a flair unmatched amongst the ranks of serial killers:

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Bat-shit crazy.

I wont ruin the ending, but I will say that it shows us that most people are clueless lemmings and definitely deserve to die.

The Good- Brilliant from start to finish, American Psycho blends disturbing imagery with a more than fitting social commentary about 80's excess. Christian Bale proves once again, that he is one of the most talented and diverse actors to ever grace the screen.

The Bad- Christian Bale's ass. This movie needed more of the ladies getting naked, especially Reese Witherspoon. Also, The habitrail scene, one of the nastiest scenes in the book, was omitted from the film. Think Starved rodent, a habitrail tube, and a hooker that deserves to be punished. Tell me that wouldn't be twisted and brilliant to see on the dvd.

Thats just wrong.

The Downright Horrendous- I cant believe he was going to feed the ATM machine a kitten!

What did we learn?- 80's music has something to say, and in fact, can change the world if only we'd listen closer.

Rating- A+ A Modern Day classic that you must own if you truly love horror. Also, Batman is in it.

Vanilla Gorilla's Raspberry's (5 being the worst)- He stayed mum on this one... methinks he was scared.

Reese Witherspoon is in this. Yum.

Darfur and Tibet ask 'Am I Not Human?'

Whether your are a blogger or a blog reader ... our hope is that you will join us on the 27th of each month to participate in our 'Am I Not Human' campaign. We often get caught up in our day-to-day lives or in the latest diversions in the presidential elections. Sometimes, we simply aren't aware of the atrocities being committed against human beings in places like Darfur, Tibet and elsewhere.

Sudan, the historic Nubia, is the largest country in Africa. Darfur is roughly the size of Texas. Sudan scarred having fought a civil war for 21 years that killed millions of people. Unfortunately, Sudan is an oil country with 70% of its oil derived revenue fed to the military while the Darfurian people starve. China is the largest stakeholder in Sudanese oil, purchases 70% of Sudan's exports and is Sudan's largest supplier of arms. China has major clout with Sudan. Yet, we have seen over 400,000 Darfurians senselessly murdered and 2.3 million have been displaced. The people of Darfur ask a simple question, 'Am I Not Human?'

Tibet was administered by Llamas (Tibetan Buddhist high monks) as a free and independent state from 1913 to 1950. In 1949, the People's Liberation Army of China invaded Tibet as a part of their cultural revolution. Millions of Tibetans have been murdered as a direct result of the Chinese invasion and occupation of Tibet. Tibetans are not free to openly practice their their religion. The Dalai Lama is considered by China to be a terrorist instigator. Tibetan buddhists consider him to be the reincarnation of Buddha. However, speaking of him or possessing his photograph is torturously punishable by Chinese law. China recently renewed its crackdown of Tibet as a result of recent protests. The people of Tibet ask a simple question, 'Am I Not Human?'

I hope you take action! Download our E-book to see a number of ways to take action. Stop supporting businesses who support rapists, torturers or murderers. Do your research. Visit links here, here or here to see what you can do to hold inhumane criminals accountable and stopped flat.

Are you up to supporting this human rights campaign on the 27th of each month? What say u?

More Defections from Team Clinton to Obama's Camp

Have you noticed how many people who know Team Clinton the best seem to be supporting Barack Obama?

The latest to make the jump was Gabriel Guerra-Mondragon, former Ambassador to Chile. Guerra-Mondragon was appointed to the Ambassadorship by Bill Clinton in 1994. More recently he served as a successful fundraiser for Hillary Clinton. Some say he raised over a half-million dollars for her campaign. Yet, this week, he defected from the Clinton campaign and endorsed Barack Obama. A formal announcement of a role for Guerra-Mondragon on Obama's national finance committee will be made next week. Guerra-Mondragon was uneasy with the tone of the Clinton campaign and was beginning to worry about what this would mean for the general election.

He's not the first to defect from Team Clinton. Some others that come to mind are:
  1. Nancy Larson (DNC member & super-delegate) - She was initially pledged to Clinton; but recently changed her mind.

  2. Robert Reich (served in Clinton cabinet) - He announced his endorsement on his blog earlier this month.

  3. Bill Richardson (served in Clinton cabinet) - Quite possibly, the most important endorsement thus far in the campaign. The Clinton campaign is very bitter over this defection.

  4. Greg Craig (Clinton's lawyer during impeachment) - This is a 'Friend of Bill' who has known Hillary and Bill for many years. He has been a friend and confidant ... and it surprised many that he came out as an Obama supporter so early in the process.

  5. Anthony Lake (Clinton's National Security Advisor) - He is a key element of the Obama foriegn policy team.

  6. David Wilhelm (Clinton's campaign manager - They guy who ran the campaign for Bill Clinton endorsed Obama early in the process.

It tells you something when the people who worked so closely with Team Clinton are abandoning the ship. Are there others?

Old School Friday: Found A Cure

Mrs. Grapevine announced that our theme this week is 'Perms'. The focus is on showing an artist with a perm hairstyle. If I could find a video with Morris Day singing 777-9111, that would have been my top choice. However, my second choice was anything showing Ashford of 'Ashford & Simpson' fame! Here is one of their best from back in the day. I hope you enjoy...

Join Blog Campaign: Am I Not Human?

I am hopeful that all bloggers and blog readers will take a moment to remember humanity. Sometimes we get so tied up on our day-to-day existance that we forget to look up or think globally about humanity. We have a chance to think globally with upcoming major competitive events such as the Beijing Olympics. Many agree that China is a country guilty of numerous human rights violations and outright oppression.

You are invited to take a moment to remember humanity on Sunday, April 27. On that day we are asking bloggers and blog readers all over the world to ask a simple question for Darfurians, Tibetans and others that have been affected by China’s lack of concern for human rights ---> Am I not human?

The Olympics should be global representation of friendship and humanity. However, the Beijing Olympics are tainted by the oppressive reality of China's human rights stance in Darfur, Tibet and elsewhere. China shows a willingness to ignore the lofty principles of the Olympic movement.

Our blog campaign, Am I not human? involves bloggers from a myriad of cultures recognizing the symbolic importance the Olympics claim to represent and the direct violation towards humanity China is guilty of in its act as a supplier to oppressive forces in the Sudan, and it’s unspeakable acts towards Tibetan Monks.

The campaign’s strategy is to educate, motivate and activate. A small ebook will be available for download detailing the background of the struggle in Darfur and Tibet, highlighting real actions that can and should be taken. The ebook will present the opportunity to continue action offline within our communities by anyone claiming to be interested in making a positive change.

AfroSpear blogger Eddie Griffin states, “We will no longer idly stand by and watch such blatant hypocrisy as human beings are inhumanely preyed upon.

The Blog Campaign participants will post in unity on the 27th of each month until real measurable, progressive change can be seen in Darfur and Tibet. Our first postings will begin on Sunday, April 27.

You can learn more from our 'Am I Not Human' Virtual Campaign headquarters or you can email the Campaign Organizers for additional information. The Campaign Organizers are: Daz Wilson, Danielle Vyas, Wayne Hicks and Eddie Griffin.

The next step is yours! What say u?

C.Y.P. Daily

C.Y.P. (Crap Your Pants) Daily presents the following creepy bit:

If that's not creepy, I don't know what is.

The Review Grade Archive

Keep in mind that these reviews are based off on things such as; overall quality of film, scare factor, plot, fun factor, gore factor/FX, originality, atmosphere/mood, impact that the film had at it's time of release, did it endure over time, acting, direction, music...

Some movies are brought up in score by one or more of the aforementioned items, some are brought down. A C movie doesn't mean it sucked; it means it was average/decent/had flaws but also had good points. Each rating (other than Do Not Want!) has a certain flexibility, and possibility of different reasoning behind them. Some examples:

A (9/10-10/10)- Classic/Masterpiece/Fun as all hell/Creepy as all hell/Visually stunning/Gorefest/Sentimental favorite/Groundbreaking.

B (7/10-8/10)- Near Classic/Great movie/Fun/Creepy/Well made/Gory/Sentimental favorite/Not quite groundbreaking.

C (5/10-6/10)- Good genre film/Average/Fun moments/Has some scares/Decent production/Bloody/Watchable/Fairly average overall.

D (3/10-4/10)- Not quite good/Sub par/Not so fun/Boring/Poor production values/Poor FX/Barely watchable/Missed the mark.

Do Not Want!- Too many issues to list, just avoid them. I'm not always going to waste the time and effort to post a review about them either...

+/- added to the rating means it was that close to the next letter grade...

Wordless Wednesday: Jesse L. Martin

Jesse L. Martin is leaving the Law & Order television series after starring in over 200 episodes. His next career move is to star in a biopic entitled 'Sexual Healing' about soul singer Marvin Gaye. There are few positive Black male role models on television, so we will miss Jesse L. Martin...

#1 & 2- 28 Days Later and 30 Days of Night

So we have officially kicked off the club with our first night of horror DVD's. Here begin the reviews!

28 Days Later (2002)

Sub-Genre- Post-Apocalyptic Monkey Zombie Mania!

In Attendance- Me, Eryn, and The Vanilla Gorilla (Nicknames are used to protect the innocent, bear with us folks.)

What's it about?- A bunch of angry monkeys get out of their cages and bite someone, thus beginning the spread of a virus that makes everyone else angry too. Soon enough, everyone in the United Kingdom is pissed off and red-eyed, and the country is populated by "sort of zombies."

Jim (Cillian Murphy), wakes up from a coma, unaware that all of this has happened, and we see his penis. He sets off in search of Bangers and Mash, but finds only deserted streets and angry "Sort of Zombies" that apparently hate him and would like to smack him in the mouth.

He meets a hot black chick, and vows to take up break dancing. Along the way, they meet up with a few other people, and they all end up finding the army... I'll say no more. I wont ruin the surprise.

The Good- An overall effective horror effort, 28 Days Later makes you feel despair from the word go, and doesn't let up on you until the end. The washed out look of it all inspires dread, and the music backs the feeling up quite well.

There are a few great scares to be had here, and the general unease that the movie achieves should keep you creeped out for the entire runtime.

The Bad- Cillian Murphy's penis and ass. Also, for people who are terrified and desperately trying to sneak around and avoid the Infected at any cost, they talked/yelled really loud.

The Downright Horrendous- Cillian Murphy's penis and ass.

No, Cillian. No!

What did we learn?- Never trust angry monkeys. Also, hippies cause more problems than they solve.

Rating- B+ A good buy, or at least a rent. You wont be wasting time with this one, so give it a shot.

Vanilla Gorilla's Raspberry's (5 being the worst)- 2 Raspberries of 5! He didn't hate this one that much!!!

30 Days of Night (2007)

Sub-Genre- Vampires

In Attendance- Me, Eryn, and The Vanilla Gorilla (Nicknames are used to protect the innocent, bear with us folks.)

What's it about?- As the town of Barrow, Alaska, prepares for it's annual 30 days without sunlight, a group of Yiddish vampires descend upon the town and proceed to make it's residents their bitches.

It's up to the town sheriff (Josh Hartnett) to keep everyone alive, and he does a pretty crap job of it. Those blood suckers are fast, strong, and really not pleasant at all. They also seem to be hungrier than Rosie O'Donnell most of the time. It doesn't help that the chick who recently dumped him tags along the whole time, because she wont let him use his karate skills to help. Women.

So basically they spend the bulk of the 30 days hiding, which really exposes them for the cowards they are. I mean , cant a bunch of chicks, a teenage kid, a 90 year old man and a burly truck driver kill 20 or so immortal vampires?

In the end, only the sheriff can save them, but does he?

Fuck that, Let's wait until morning.

The Good- A fun, bloody and aggressively violent vampire film, I don't see how this wont please most fans of the genre. The atmosphere is right, and the cinematography is clean and crisp... I loved this one.

The Bad- I can see how some people may have issues with the vampires differing from the traditional vampire mold a bit, but it's not a huge issue. The end was a bit of a "Huh?" moment as well.

The Downright Horrendous- I didn't know that vampires spoke Yiddish.

What did we learn?- Vampires always ruin threesomes.

Rating- B+ A definite own for me.

Vanilla Gorilla's Raspberry's (5 being the worst)- 1 Raspberry of 5! He almost liked it!!!

Melissa George is in this.

Another Disappointing Night for Obama Supporters

What a terrible night for those of us that support Barack Obama. Hillary wins Pennsylvania by 10 points. She connects with voters in her victory speech. Barack loses another big state. Barack gives a rather predictable and repetitive concession speech.

I miss the feeling that we had in February when Obama was winning 12 contests in a row. He's now lost three of the last four ... and he simply can't knock Hillary out. He has another chance to get match point in two weeks. If he wins both Indiana and North Carolina ... perhaps that will end it.

I didn't see much of a silver lining last night ... except for the fact that he still has the most victories, delegates, money and popular votes.

What is your take on the Democratic primary at this point? Are you beginning to feel that Obama is going to need to select Hillary as his vice presidential candidate? Any thoughts on Pennsylvania results? Share your village voice....

Fox News Attacks Barack Obama

I don't watch Fox News very much because it is difficult to stomach their obvious bias against Barack Obama. In fact, you may recall that I asked you to sign an online petition demanding that the media stop spreading the 'FOX virus'. Brave New Worlds created the video below that uses humor to show the FOXification of the mainstream media. You can see how FOX guests and personalities distort and misrepresent the statements of Obama and those around him, only to have that pesky "liberal" media pick up the smears and keep on running!

It amazes me how much we let Fox News get away with as it relates to its treatment of Barack Obama. Hopefully, the citizens of Pennsylvania won't be hoodwinked or bamboozled.

Group 3

We have a big family, and a few more have just recently decided to get in on The Horror Club madness!

There will be no A-Z or Z-A order; When this group meets, it will be random movies at random times (mostly I'll be bringing movies that they have'nt seen.)

Me- I'm always there...
Dave- Machine's brother; has a love for all things horror.
Karrie
- The Chick; pees her pants when scared; scared all the time.
Michaela & Adrianna- Can they handle the pure terror that we have to offer? Yeah, probably.

Group 2

Group 1 started at Z, and is happily making their way to A, watching everything in our horror collections reverse-alphabetically.

Me- The Constant. (LOST reference!)
Machine- The Lifeblood; no Horror Club exists without his madcap tomfoolery!
Chris- The unflappable one; nothing scares this man!
Geo- Mr. "Stuck in the 70's."; still rocks the 8-track in his car.
Michelle- Mr. "Stuck in the 70's" wife/back-up plan; she'll always be my #1 :)

*James- Part time as he has an hour drive to attend; always there in spirit.
*Christian/Amanda- Part time, as they think taking care of a newborn is more important than horror... priorities people! Geesh.

Group 1

The group that "Started it all!"

Group 1 started at A, and is happily making their way to Z, watching everything in our horror collections alphabetically.

Me- A legend in my own mind.
Eryn- Thought she was tough until she watched Inside; horror is in her veins. Loves it all, in some fashion or the other.
The Vanilla Gorilla- The Skeptic; he is quickly becoming a horror loving fool (though he hates the Amityville movies.) Haute Tension is his all-time fave so far.
Cherrie- The rookie; her enthusiasm is fierce. She too loves the Haute Tension goodness.

*Sometimes we get random walk-on's here, and list them accordingly.

Rules and Ratings

It's pretty simple how the club and ratings work.

A- A horror classic (This is the same as 9/10 or 10/10)
B- A near classic, still great (7/10 or 8/10)
C- Average. Has certain issues that push it one way or the other (5/10 or 6/10)
D- Not so good. Were most likely never watching this again. (3/10 or 4/10)
DO NOT WANT- Utter garbage; We'd rather set kittens of fire and try to put them out with spiked baseball bats that waste our time on these.

How we do it?:

0- We are all friends that get together once or twice a week.
1- We watch horror movies from our collections.
2- We start with A, and work through them in order, until we reach Z.
3- Ok, so we really start with titles beginning with numbers, but #-Z sounds pretty wrong to me.
4- We post about them, and all things horror, here on our happy Lil' blog.

Since all of us can't get together in the same place at once to participate, we have divided ourselves into two groups; Group 1 will start at A and work through to Z, while Group 2 will begin at Z and work backwards to A. Trust me, it's easier for me this way... I'd go mad sitting through the same flicks over and over...

Our go-between, who constantly refers to himself as Machine, can attend either at his leisure. That's only because no one makes rules for him. Ever. I'm sure as fuck not starting here.

Machine is always watching.

I from time to time will catch a horror movie without anyone else around and that isn't from my collection, and thus will do a solo review on it. The solo's tend to be newer movies, which usually make me cry if I watch them alone. Lately I've been wetting myself too. The poop is next, I'm sure.

Our club is a cool way for friends to get together and have some fun. You should try it.

Our Mission Statement. Esentially.

Welcome. We do things a bit differently here, but I'll be damned if it doesn't work!

We here at The Horror Club love horror movies; we love them so much in fact, that we started a club about them. Hence the name of the blog.

Above all else, we are here to experience the beauty (and sometimes misery) of the horror film, both old and new. We want to roll around and bask in the filthy taint of celluloid terror as Rosie O'Donnell rolls around on piles of shaved ham, basking in her ravenous hunger. In other words, we REALLY love horror.

We watch, discuss, then review horror flicks; then we pretty much discuss the reviews we have just written. We like to think of what we do as giving you the tools that you may need, to walk the poisoned path along side of us. We do try to do that with a twist though: You may notice, from time to time, here and there, a bit of sarcasm and/or some random inappropriate humor thrown into the mix... I'll explain really quick...

The style of the blog is simply the way we all, as a group of friends, sit and discuss movies on a Friday night (sometimes on Saturday too, if Geo doesn't have to go cut his mom's grass or something.)

We really do sit around every week and watch movies; more importantly, we like to fancy ourselves witty and in the know, discussing what we watch, and trying our best to out-funny each other in the process. We do get to the crux of the movies we discuss for sure, but we like to laugh and dazzle ourselves with our crazy humor and wit along the way.

I know, it is kind of sad. It's who we are though. To me, it's a neat twist on a blog; most are so dull and technically oriented... Who cares what the aspect ratio of the DVD is? A true film geek like me already knows that crap; now tell me exactly why David Hasselhoff is scared of Bologna... and I'm hooked. Also, who doesn't enjoy funny pics of cats dong crazy thing, or pics of hot chicks being hot? (Fine, so it's mostly the men like that last one...)

This is how our club works in real life... seriously, we really do this:

Gather your friends, cram them all in a room with a TV, and the person with the biggest horror DVD collection supplies the goods; Then you just watch a movie or two, crap your pants, crap each others pants, maybe laugh a little here or there, and then discuss it all before you drive home. Alone. And yes, whatever you just watched may in fact kill you in the car, but that's all a part of the fun!

It's nearly guaranteed that everyone you know hasn't seen every horror movie you own, unless you only have 6 of them. It's like making someone a mixed tape of music that you love, and that they've never heard before; you absolutely owe it to them to share. If they don't end up loving the mixed tape like you do, they just can't be your friend anymore. They suck anyways, so why keep them hanging around?

Me being as anal as I am about my DVD collection (All of my movies are sorted by genre, and are arranged alphabetically within each genre), gave me the brilliant idea "Horror movies... Let's watch them all! We can go in order, A-Z!" All 250+ of them.

I get to share Argento and Bava, early Craven, and plenty of Cronenberg. I get to show my friends why the original is almost always much better than the remake. Same with the Japanese horror. I get to let someone experience exactly what Giallo is firsthand instead of trying to explain it when we talk.

We get to go through a horror history lesson. Together. Also, we get to hide on people when they go to the bathroom, and try our best to give them a massive coronary or a stroke when they come back. At very least, you should be going for tears. Good times, good times.

So this blog will document our A-Z journey through horrors hallowed halls. You know there will be lists too; Top 10 this, the 10 worst that, and anything else I need to preach about involving horror movies... or chicks from horror movies. Those are always nice too.

You should listen closely, I'm really good at this.

Also, I reserve the right to discuss anything that I'd like to, horror related or not. Deal with it.

1,100th Blog Joins Villager's Black Blog Rankings

Our tradition is to highlight every 100th blog added to the Villager's Black Blog Rankings (BBR). In the past we highlighted the 800th, 900th and 1,000th blogs added to the BBR.

Today, we are pleased to announce that Slausin-Ass Slaus' Want / Do Not Want is the 1,100th blog added to the BBR.

Want / Do Not Want (BBR #796) , created in February 2008, is another "piece of absolute shenanigans, foolishness and simple ridiculousness" from the creators of Oh Hell Nawl (BBR #147).

Will Foxy Brown Check Out HousePlansAndMore.com On Her Release From Prison?

I see that Foxy Brown was freed from prison this week. She served 40-days of her sentence in solitary confinement. She had plenty of time to dream of her dream home. Now that she is out in the free world, she might want to check out some pre-drawn home plans.

While it can take an architect months to complete a custom ranch style house plan, HousePlansAndMore.com (a subsidiary of HDA, Inc.) has plans available on their new website that a customer can purchase and obtain a building permit for within a matter of days. In addition to time saved, custom drawings may cost up to 10 times more than a comparable stock home plan. These plans are created to include the most sought after home features, and with thousands to choose from, it is easy to find a home design with all of the amenities desired.

MC Hammer ain't building no mansions anymore! He can tell you that a common theme among anyone deciding to build a home is value. Obtaining the American Dream is a huge investment, possibly the biggest of most people's lifetime. Therefore, when making the decision to build, it is wise to investigate all possible avenues, including the world of pre-drawn home plans or "stock plans." HDA, a premier home plan company, offers thousands of best-selling home designs available at everyone's fingertips on its newly redesigned website.

HDA features more than 15,000 home plans available for purchase on their Web site, from small cottage house plans to log house plans. With that sheer volume, one might feel a bit overwhelmed to begin their search. But with user-friendly search features, including searching by home style, size and estimated cost-to-build, the task becomes a breeze. The site also offers a Photo Gallery, allowing a virtual tour of many homes built from HDA's pre-drawn plans.

For more information or to view the countless pre-drawn home plans they offer, Foxy Brown, MC Hammer or you should contact HDA by phone (314.770-2222) or their online website.
