As a stylist to the stars, June Ambrose has dressed Zoe Saldana, Mariah Carey and Jay-Z, but in a new interview to promote her new VH1 television series, Styled By June, the 40-year-old admits she has her sights set on rather less polished names.
'I like broken starlets,' she admitted to the Associated Press. 'I love to fix things. I would love to get, like, a Courtney Love. Lindsay Lohan I'd be brilliant with.'

Indeed, she almost got to remake Whitney Houston, a broken icon she would have loved to dress.
'There were talks about it,' she said. 'I really wanted to do Whitney Houston's comeback. I just felt like Whitney and I would have been great together.
With the late Houston readying a return to the spotlight with the upcoming movie, Sparkle, and new music on the horizon, it was a real possibility.
Throughout her career, the stylist has also helped to remake the image of struggling stars like Luther Vandross and Mariah Carey as they were preparing major comebacks.
With her new VH1 show, Styled by June, the Antigua native continues her specialty of making struggling celebrities look their best, this time with celebrities like Mischa Barton and female rappers Trina and Da Brat.

So what is it like getting celebrities to trust her when taking them out of their fashion comfort zone?
Ambrose explained: 'Celebrities naturally are quite defensive by nature.
'They're constantly being photographed and judged, and social media controls so much of how they feel about themselves,' she said.

'I have to strip them down and build them back up, and the reason why I have to strip them down is I need them to see themselves, not the person they want to be, but the person that they are. Face that person, accept that person and then we deal with the alter ego.'
The stylist has already proven she's great with other A-listers, with a dazzling client list that includes Will Smith, Jamie Foxx, Jay-Z, Missy Elliott and Zoe Saldana, and she also was a stylist for the U.S. version of the X-Factor.
She also proves she had an innate sense of style from birth, the stylist quipped, 'When I came out of my mother's womb I was like, "Where are my designer diapers?"'
It is this inherent fashion knowledge that makes Ambrose an authority on trends, as well as the most common mistakes people make when putting together an outfit.

Ambrose explained her take on the spring and fall trends for this year, citing: 'Both seasons are filled with color, they're exciting, but what's wonderful about it is there's a lot of classic pieces.
'I think consumers are really looking for classic fashion that has punctuation, so there's a lot of play on texture, but the color is really what's exciting.'
Regardless of trends though, she continued her advice: 'Fit is a factor. When a guy invests in a sports jacket, have it tailored if it's not something that was couture to your body. Women, wear your foundation undergarments, even if you're skinny.
'Having the right foundation pieces, it helps you with your core, it helps you with that juxtaposition. It's like wearing a petticoat,' she said.

'And people also feel like they need to over accessorize. You have to balance your bold. Head-to-toe leopard isn't necessary unless it's a Halloween soiree you're going to.'
Styled By June airs on Mondays at 9.30pm.
