The Week In "Do Not Want!"

Only two this week, as the preparations for the 31 Days of Horror is eating up most of my time.

Red Victoria- So this is a basically horror comedy that isn't very funny at all. In fact, it's annoyingly unfunny. The actor that plays the role of the main character is not meant for comedy. Then again, he may also not be meant for writing or directing either. I halfway expected a porn flick to break out at any moment while watching this because the (over) acting, storyline and quality was just about porn-like. I guess if you like wacky, unfunny horror movies that make you cringe, this will be right up your alley.

I don't get the point of a movie like this; and by that I mean why it was even made.

Sick Girl- I wanted to like this movie. I really tried to like this movie. I think when it came down to it, that I thought with better actors this one could have been decent. The acting, especially from our Sick Girl, was just putrid. There's definitely some hardcore violence perpetrated in this movie, but it meant very little since NONE of the characters made me give even the slightest damn.

Leslie Andrews was not able to carry this film as the titular character. She tried her best to channel Ellen Page, but fell far short. I couldn't tell when she was insane or happy... she seemed to only really have one blank expression on her face. She had moments of quality here and there, but just couldn't handle the emotional range that was necessary to play the role.

I seem to be in the minority with this one. Many horror sites liked or loved this movie, and even the NY Times gave it an 8 of 10. The makers of this movie tried their asses off, as did the cast, but it just left me cold.

I can totally see people liking it though, especially the gorehounds.
