Starring- Shannon Elizabeth, Monica Keena, Diora Baird, and um... Edward Furlong. Yeah. The Terminator kid.Maddie and her girlfriends are ready for a great Halloween night. They’re going to a party at the notorious Broussard Mansion in New Orleans where, 80 years ago, six people disappeared without a trace and the owner, Evangeline Broussard, mysteriously hung herself. That dark history only enhances the atmospheric appeal to the party goers.
But during the wild sex-and-drugs abandon it soon becomes clear supernatural forces are at work and there’s much more to the Broussard urban legend than anyone suspected. For the mansion is home to demons that need to possess seven vessels to break free of an ancient curse, transforming their victims into hideous, drooling creatures. Can Maddie make it through the night and keep evil forces from spreading into the world?
Do you remember how much fun the original was? I do, mainly because it premiered here in Detroit and did so well, that we had it in theaters for the rest of the year. I also remember Linnea Quigley's tits, the lipstick sene, the lesbian kiss, and the all-time classic line "Eat a bowl of fuck!" Good times, people. Good times.
The original was no piece of cinematic art, but it was a movie that basically captured what the whole 80's horror scene was all about; slutty chicks, boobs, blood, bad acting, and mindless fun. It was just like hair metal; nothing but a good time, minus the hairspray and cocaine. And spandex. No power ballads either.
NOTD will make its World Premiere at Frightfest in London on Sunday August 30th (see post below this one), while the rest of us get it in October. With a release so close, the fact that there's no trailer makes me a bit nervous.
The Good-
-The combined hotness/boob magic of Elizabeth/Keena/Baird/Luther/Shepis should make this one fun. And hot.
-Linnea Quigley makes an appearance! How awesome that they brought one of the best scream queens of all-time back. That alone makes this fun.
-The director of the original, Kevin Tenney, is producing this one, so maybe he can help keep it on the cool side of things.
The Bad-
-How is Edward Furlong still getting work?
-Will this one have the balls of the original, or be a watered down "friendlier" version as so many remakes are.
-The lipstick scene better be in there... One of the big boobed chicks in this movie better shove a lipstick into her tit at some point, or I'll cry shenanigans.
-Where is the trailer already? Even promo pictures have been slow to leak out online... what are you hiding, filmmakers?

Verdict: I don't know, the original was a fave of mine, but could certainly use the update treatment, as it was in no way perfect. Then again, Edward Furlong is in this, which pretty much means it's going to suck. In the end, I'll have faith in the cast of actresses with awesome boobs, and give it a chance. It could go either way.
