The thought of a new Dario Argento film, especially one entitled Giallo, should be enough to give any self respecting horror fan a good and steady boner... yes, even the women. I liked Mother of Tears (although it seems that many didn't), and I thought his Masters of Horror episodes were pretty good, but to see him go back to his roots in Giallo makes me giddy.
No director on the planet did Giallo film better than Argento did in the 70's; that is absolutely no knock on genius filmmakers like Bava or Fulci, but it's just the truth.
Deep Red, The Bird With the Crystal Plumage, Tenebre, Four Flies on Grey Velvet... all masterpieces of murder mystery, black gloved killers, excessive violence, style and score. Hopefully, we will have one more movie to add to this list with Giallo.
I can't wait until 2009!...
