Day 1- Friday, October 1st

Some old favorites, some new unknowns... we're watching 100 movies in 31 days!
*Be sure to check the full reviews for the movies when available, if you want more in-depth info and witty analysis.

#1- Case 39 (2010)- (FULL REVIEW HERE) We originally reviewed Case 39 back in January of this year, so it was a pretty big surprise to see it getting a theatrical run now, nearly a year later. Despite the squinty prune-face of Renee Zellweger, Case 39 ends up being a pretty effective evil kid flick, and a fun little film experience. It's not quite as good as last years Orphan, but it holds its own. I still maintain that letting any kid named Lilith in to your house is just asking for it though, because screw that.

#2- Fritt Vilt (2006)- (FULL REVIEW HERE) aka Cold Prey, Fritt Vilt is a fun little Norwegian slasher flick full of snow, people with long names, and mongoloid mountain men hell bent on killing sexy young people. The setting is what sets this one apart from countless other slasher flicks; the gorgeous, isolated mountains of Norway providing the backdrop for the bloody mayhem. If you like a good slasher flick, this one will be right up your alley.

#3- The Lovely Bones (2010)- (FULL REVIEW HERE) I liked this one the second time far more than I did the first. I also love how Erin cried like a girl (because she is) during the movie, because I feed off of the pain of others. The Lovely Bones is more of a tear jerking drama than horror really, but we here at THC are suckers for any movie having to do with serial killers, and especially one directed by genre bad ass, Peter Jackson. Bleak, dreary, depressing and creepy, this movie was just really good. Don't forget to bring your tissues, Nancy.

#4- [REC 2] (2010)- (FULL REVIEW HERE) Unless something better comes out between now and December 31st, [REC 2] is the best horror movie of 2010. Better than the first one, [REC 2] picks up right where [REC] left off, and takes us even deeper into the viral possession madness that made the first movie so great. The added depth and new visual elements just make this movie shine, adding to the already compelling and creepy as hell story. If you haven't seen these movies, you need to. Now.

That's 4/100 movies watched so far, so we had better get back to it... now where is the butter...
