Black Unemployment Rate Falls to 15.5% in May 2010

People of African descent in this country need to get serious about the economic condition in our community. Perhaps it is up to us ... not President Obama ... to take steps to improve employment, opportunity and hope in the Black community.

A new employment report released this morning by the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows us that the unemployment rate for African Americans dropped to 15.5% in May 2010.

The mainstream media will focus on the bigger picture -- 431,000 job were created last month. The unemployment rate edged down to 9.7 percent. However, total private employment increased by a less-than-forecast 41,000 jobs.
